1st of January 2010, the beginning of the first decade of the new millennium. It is so perplexing looking back to realize the subject of " time flying " as these 10 years feel like if it was yesterday. So where does the time go ? and why does it seem to speed up with every passing year ? Some people say that when we are young, a day is a huge amount of our life.
With each day and year that elapses, however, that day becomes a tiny fraction of one's life.
It sounds simple enough. Perception of time is also distorted when we do out-of-the-ordinary activities. Some neurologists say, to make time seem longer, introduce novelty into our lives. Take a different route to do the shopping or shop at another place, use your other hand to move the mouse in your computer and if you are adventurous travel somewhere different, you could also try writing with the left hand or vise-versa. I hope you all had a really good turn of the year!

Hee, hee. I know a way to make time crawl like a snail. Just switch on the TV and watch five hours of soaps. It will seem like they'll never end.
I cetainly remember going back to school in September after six weeks of holidays and thinking "No more days off till the end of October. That's an eternity." Now I know it's just the blink of an eye.

The holiday season was my favourite time of the year as I could draw and paint without having to hide what I was doing in class. We also had swimming lessons so going back to school meant having to deal with maths when I would rather be painting but I have to agree with you about the soap operas I cannot stand watching East Enders, not even for five seconds. The screaming and violence is such that even the T.V. shudders! I wish the BBC would make more quality programmes instead of the rubbish we are constantly bombarded with.
Did anyone see the New Year's show? where they had a game called: Spot the Scotsman? They had six guys, two of them black and all dressed with the Scotish kilt, so they asked an old lady if she could spot the real Scotsman. The proof of the pudding was when one at a time, every man facing the old lady was placed under a vent a la Marilyn Monroe ! Once we could hear her say: No, the air vent would be activated and the kilt would fly up ! One time she said no, and the vent revealed he had absolutely nothing underneath, the same way he came to this world. They showed her face and at her age, I'm surprised the old lady didn't have a heart attack. Maybe for 2010 you could volunteer for the show Dougie.

Ha,ha,ha, I just wanted to see your reaction Dougie. Besides.. we didn't get a frontal look at the Scotsman just his derriere and it lasted only 3 seconds if I had blinked then it would have been only two seconds it was all over in a flash! Just the lucky old lady got to see the front of the Scotsman. I only said that because you were, for a short while posing nude for an art class. Unfortunatelly where I live, we cannot any gentlemen models, we have to make do, with ladies and I haven't gone to draw nudes in ages.
Have you seen what are the awful BBC T.V. programmes in store for this year? Anthea Turner helping out in nasty inner state houses to erradicate roaches and rats. Oh what joy ! Another programme is going to be about having a silly person living and acting as a pig. That is, he is expected to live in a pig-stie, eat with the pigs and learn how to grunt like the pigs, there will be another stupid person who would do the same thing as above except with a dog. Oh honestly...These people have noooo imagination. Enough said isn't it..

Mine was at the tip top of Scotland in a place called: Goldspi where we rented a small cottage and we saw the aurora boreal at night, it was a weird green coloured light moving in the sky. We only had a few fire places to keep warm but it was magical.

That is so funny! I would also like to erradicate Jonathan Ross and the other creep, Russell Brand too. Did you see how the author P.D. James took to task the Governor of the BBC ? The man was left stuttering... he could not properly account to her why these drones at the BBC were taking such millionare pay-checks, for all they produce is nothing but rubbish. He sheepishly said that the fat salaries are to keep these people and prevent them from being poached by rival channels. I would say...the rival channels are too clever to hire these promotors of rubbish programmes! Viva P.D. James! I wish she would take over the BBC Governor's job and put back great programmes again and she would deserve the pay check. The talent is certainly there, we just need to get rid of the of the Anthea Turners, Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand and the rest of the other leeches living out of tax payer's money without producing the excellent programmes that once upon a time the BBC used to be renowned for.
That would be a start maria,but the programmes that were made in the so named golden age of broadcasting most likely wouldnt be allowed today....comedy such as till death us do part...the 2 ronnies....love they neighbour....to name only 3 would be banned today for pc reasons...script writers in those days knew how to make people laugh,today comedy is funny because of its unfunniness....funnily enough i read somewhere recently that the bbc series secret army ,popularily acclaimed as probably the greatest drama series produced had its final episode withdrawn because the bbc (pushed by the govt) felt that some issues regarding communism in that prog were a bit touchy for some reason....that was around 1980..its wen this pc nonsense had its begginning..now of course its completely o0ut of control.......
Well it won't be long before the beebs bans something on account of health and safety reasons. That nonsense has also gone out of control nowadays so we are breeding a generation who cannot play conkers nor climb trees nor walk back home from school because of the health and safety reasons in other words, is going to be a generation of wimps ! Not the brave Hornblowers of the past.
Personally my favourite comedies are: Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers, Open All Hours, Are You Being Served, Yes, Prime Minister, Tony Hancock, Step-toe and Son, Jeeves and Worster, To The Mannor Born. At the moment, there are no comedies to speak of.
Did any of you heard about the bomb in Shrewsbury ?
It was a potent blast that blew-up a building all the way to the last floor, injuring a woman who lived at the top of the building and it went all the way to the car-park too, where several cars with their occupants were also injured. 12 in all, Peter and I had parked exactly at that car-park the previous day and we had to go to Shrewsbury yesterday to exchange an item I bought but as luck would have it, I woke up late and by the time we got to Shrewsbury the perimeter of the streets around the town had just been closed down. I asked the guy who was closing the road what was happening? and he replied that there had been a huge gas explotion near the bull pub. Except that there was a curious thing..Whenever there is a gas leak there is always a pungent smell of gas. In this instance, there was NO GAS SMELL. Call me suspicious, but I wouldn't put it past it, that the IRA are back in business. No smell of gas.

There was a policeman interviewed yesterday who said that there was a smell of gas. I think it was probably gas.
I don't watch much new comedy at all now. In fact if I were forced to choose between watching 5 hours of Coronation Street or 5 hours of Dawn French, Ben Elton et al, I'd pick the soap opera.
I did like One Foot In The Grave and Mr Bean, and I still like Paul Merton.
Well Robert I was there too and I didn't smell any gas. I was there on Saturday and Sunday shortly after the explotion happened. I'm only glad that the explosion didn't happen on that car park because that was the same car park we had left our car the previous day and the cars blew up with some passengers. On the day of the explosion, yesterday, I was there too when they had just closed the road leading to the explosion. No smell of gas there either. My nose is very good for smells.

The ira is still there..the arms and weapon caches are still there..they never did go away. thats wat happens when cowardly govts make concessions to cowardly terror organisations.Whether the IRA had a hand in the explosion or not,i very much doubt to be frank,though if foul play play is found to be the cause,I think there is another rather obvious suspect..or band of them.
I believe there may be another series of explosions .of one kind of another,if the planned muslim extremist march goes ahead in Wootton Basset ,whenever that is.Though the organisers maintain it is a respectful,peaceful protest,of course its nothing of the sort.Its designed to inflame,to incite,and im sure it will do just that,if it isnt then wy hold it in wooton basset of all places?
Now if someone were to demonstrate against it ,no doubt they would be racists.my verdict would be.ok if you wish to protest against british troops ,then go do it....but preferabley go do it in your own fly blown dump you call a country ..i.e Afghanistan or Iraq or yemen or syria or somalia.
Another thing I have to say about this upon looking at the BBC news is that they wrote it like this:
Suspected ' gas ' leak explosion. They are still investigating."
When there was a gas leak last year, at my son's apartment the smell was such, that you cannot fail to smell it. Hector immediatelly called the gas company in London who came very quickly and detected a gas leak in one of the apartments on the fourth floor. The people living there had gone on a holiday and so the gas people somehow got in that apartment and turned off the gas from the cooker. This smell is very potent to make sure people take notice that there is a gas leak. No one called to report a smell of gas before the explosion but this explosion may have have in turned caused a small gas leak. In any case, we just received a call from our friend Paul tell us he was glad nothing happened to us, as we were so close from disaster.
Going back to comedy,my own theory as to why there is no comedy on tv worthy of the name is....the old hands at comedy,ken dodd,wisdom,les dawson (who imho opinion was the funniest of them all)and lots more learned their trade through the medium of clubs and pubs and music halls,probabley booed off the stage at times in their early days...they learnt the art of timing..without it a comedian is lost....people like charles hawtrey(remember him?) could convey more in a single expression than todays comedians can in a hundred words.Victorias countryman barry humphries was one of the best,but again his alter ego Les Patterson wouldnt be allowed on tv nowadays unless his act was totally watered down,its a shame.
Today we have so called comics,given that title because they are related to producers or whatever..its the only logical reason cos they certainly arent described as comics due to their funniness.
The day will come,when govts will tell us what is funny or not funny...when we should laugh...when we should cry..when we should switch on,and off.and there is allready a horde of labour supporters or johnny come lately socialists who cant wait for that day to arrive..

The thing is that a demostration in Aghanistan, Yemen or Iraq is not covered by the western media. It came as a complete surprise to my husband when I told him that Yemen had been recently attacks by American drones. Hence the bomb attack in the Delta plane. It came as a complete surprise to him also to know that Gaza has been pounded just four days ago by the Israelis on the New Year 2010. This things are not reported at all by the BBC so the population here remains absolutely ignorant of what really is going on in their name abroad. They only take notice when another soldier comes dead home. I can speak and understand other languages and I can see for myself what is covered abroad that is not reported in this state run channel called BBC which is paid by the tax payer but only broadcasts what the goverment wants us to know.

I agree wholeheartedly with you that it was "once a great country", it is a shame the way things are going, but possibly we could say that for most places these days? But from my personal view from visiting your country many times for over 30 years .. you see the change (and maybe notice it more, just being a visitor).. in the ordinary things like the state of the streets and the people, attitudes etc. But still underneath it all there is a feeling of substance about the place, I hope that doesn't sound too strange, and is understandable.
Without going into the question of Islamic terrorism, I would say that it's certainly the case that the BBC will only broadcast what it wants to broadcast. Sometimes this will be what the Government wants broadcast, at other times the BBC will clash with the Government,usually because the BBC is more left-leaning or liberal than the Government. Whenever it comes to a showdown, however, the BBC will always toe the Government line.
The BBC is an institution which shouldn't exist. It's funded by compulsion and its only raison d'etre is to give jobs to Oxbridge graduates.

Britain has changed for the worst because they have tried to "Americanize" Britain. In the news, the first item the BBC puts is something about Mr. Obama, not anything that concerns us the British people. We hear only how our puppet Prime Ministers are going to help in the new invasion of Afghanistan, so it is not surprising that the Afghans in turn are trying to defend THEIR territory and in trying to repell the foreign invaders which are our soldiers who are coming home dead. We have NO respect for the Middle East countries. The Americans and their puppet governments, think they can just go in these land and steal their oil without having to pay for it first. They now also want to control the heroine trade, since these crops has increased THREE fold since this invasion started. Who do you think is selling arms to the insurgence in Afghanistan? Answer: The black market for arms coming from the U.S. because in the end, these merchants of death are not interested who is right or wrong, nor if its a British or American soldiers who gets killed either, so long as the invasion continues with whatever lies they can get away to convince the gullible people of this country and those in U.S. then they could give a monkey's tail who gets killed. There are probabley more than a few reasons why Britain has gone down the tubes.Mass immigration is certainly one,drops in education standards is another...would you believe quite recently i spoke to a trainee manager at a local supermarket who didnt know the difference between 5oclock A.M and 5 oclock P.M?this guy was around 25,where was he educated i wonder?
Theres another issue though i believe probabley far more important.When i was growing up our consciences were regularly probed and prodded and questioned,it was perhaps the hallmarlk of a respectable person..the church instilled it in people too,probabley overmuch.Today very few people seem to have consciences,they have gone out of fashion,instead anything goes.No real defining roles for the sexes..lots of men are more like women,and the defeminisation of women in particular is everywhere,no wonder confusion reigns supreme in the younger element today.

To me, it is appalling that innocent people who have nothing to deserve this fate are dying; whether they died in the towers in New York or if they died in Yemen with the American cruise missiles.
