I may have been discovered
Well, this has been an exciting couple of weeks for me. The town cryer asked me if I would lend a couple of my paintings for a show at their church, to raise money for repairs and one thing has led to another. Whilst the paintings were on show at the church, a gallery owner saw them and he has invited me to put them up for an exhibition he is having on the 27th of August. Later on, I learned that this gallery owner is extremely well connected with famous people like Zandra Rhodes ( the fashion designer and Rula Lenska the actress ) among some of his friends and that last year, David Hockney had exhibited at his gallery. Everyone in the art world knows who David Hockney is, as he appears in every contemporary history of art book. So, I suppose this is great news for me. I also learned that this gallery owner also has another gallery in London, so I hope that this leads to more exciting things. He came to visit me to my home last Saturday and told me to be prepared to meet famous people at the show opening on the 27th of this month and to bring the paintings on the 26th. I will try and take photos. I will keep you posted...

It's well-deserved, Maria, and I hope it leads to big things. It's very nice to see someone with talent get a look-in because I don't like the strange things that pass for art these days.
If you become famous you will also have to become eccentric. It's expected!
Ha,ha,ha. Perhaps I could go with ostrich feathers to the opening! I know I get glances from people when I wear my dark glasses and plock my normal glasses in front, it does look like if I have a telescopic pair of glasses but its only owed to the fact that my eyes are super-sensitive to light and sometimes I feel comfortable wearing them that way, even when its cloudy and dark. Well, I won't be doing anything radical like my tenant, Jane she is a hair-dresser and to raise funds for the cancer charity, she cut all of her hair like a recruit soldier, Peter even offered to waive the monthly rent if she didn't do it but she said she was already committed to the event. I didn't go to see this, because for me it would have been tantamunt to going to see someone be guillotined. As it was, the new hair style looks fantastic! I have never seen anyone come out of a radical cut as drastic as this and look great. Jane has marvellous big green eyes, so when she cut her hair the eyes are her prominent feature. I won't be going that route though and I hope the style doesn't catch on because its not for everyone. I could paint my nails green though..

I suppose because she is a hairdresser, cutting her hair is the sacrifice relevant to her. If she ran a clothes shop, the equivalent would be walking around dressed as a vagrant. And if she was a beautician, she would paint warts and pimples on her face. Well I hope she raises some money for such a worthy cause.
Jane did raise a thousand pounds. She invited everyone who wanted to watch her hair being raised off. I couldn´t bear to watch anything like that, so I didn´t go, plus I had my own House Warming Party the next day, so I really didn´t have the time to dilly-dally with all the cooking for 22 people I had to do. Everyone complemented my food, I did my mum´s special asparragus rice and there were five people who in unison asked me: ´Maria what´s in the rice!!´as they had never tasted a rice this good as this. I made beef Bouginon, quiches, 3 different salads, tiny party sausages and three deserts to choose from: triffle, fruit salad and chocolate cake. I had a lot of nice presents from my neighbours and we went through 10 bottles of wine and two bottles of champagne.
Maria, this seems like wizardry to me because I don't understand how you can cook all that lot 22 times over without having a kitchen the size of a restaurant kitchen with assistants thrown in. I think I would rather stick pins in myself than try something as complicated as that.

I cooked some dishes the previous day some during the very day and this way, it is really spread in two days besides that, I had two salads which are cold dishes and no need to cook plus the triffle that was done the day before to allow it set in the fridge and its served cold so with a little bit of organization its quite easy to do everything without killing yourself.
